Human Initiative Establishes Four Emergency Response Posts to Support Flood Relief in Sumatra

04 December 2025

Flooding in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra has caused many residential areas to be submerged, forcing families to leave their homes. In this situation, basic needs such as food, clean water, hygiene supplies, and daily logistics become essential to help people continue their activities during the emergency period.

Human Initiative responded by deploying 55 volunteers to strengthen on-site operations. The team coordinated their work through four Emergency Response Posts, which have supported more than 3,500 people. These posts help speed up aid distribution, improve coordination, and ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most.

The Human Initiative Aceh Post is located on Jalan Reformasi, Santan Village, Ingin Jaya District. The North Sumatra Post is on Jalan Abdul Hakim, Classic I Complex, Medan Selayang. The Bukittinggi Post operates from Jalan Hafid Jalil, Birugo. Meanwhile, the West Sumatra Post is based on Jalan By Pass, Kayu Gadang, Kuranji District, Padang. These locations were selected based on volunteer accessibility and distribution reach to affected areas.

From these four posts, volunteers evacuate residents from high-risk points, distribute ready-to-eat meals, operate public kitchens and water stations, and deliver food supplies as well as hygiene kits. The team also conducts regular rapid assessments to monitor changing conditions so that assistance remains suitable for community needs at each stage of the emergency response.

This flood response aims to help affected families maintain their basic needs throughout the disaster period. Human Initiative is committed to providing effective, needs-based support for the community.

Human Initiative invites the public and partners to support recovery efforts in Sumatra through donations at human-initiative.jp, so more affected families can meet their daily needs and return to normal activities after the disaster.
