Emergency Water Supply and Power Support for Flood-Affected Residents in Malalak

02 December 2025

Heavy rain at the end of November caused a flash flood in the hilly area of Agam Regency. The strong water flow carried mud and wood into the residential area and blocked many roads. Because of this, daily activities stopped, and some places, including Malalak, had difficulty getting basic necessities. People needed quick support, especially clean water and safe lighting at night.

Human Initiative responded by sending an additional team on Sunday night, 30 November 2025. The team brought water-kitchen equipment and a generator. When the vehicle reached the final point, the team continued on foot for almost one hour. The path was difficult, with hills and a river crossing, but they managed to bring all the equipment to Korong Campago so residents could use it immediately.

When they arrived, the Human Initiative team set up the Pertamina water kitchen and installed the generator to provide light during the night. This support helped residents manage their basic needs even though the roads were blocked and the power supply was disrupted. The water kitchen and generator became important help for people during the recovery period.

On Monday morning, 1 December 2025, the water kitchen in Jorong Bukik Malancah began operating. Residents came quickly to get water for their daily needs, which had been difficult after the flash flood. This service became an important part of the recovery in Malalak.

Human Initiative continues to support communities affected in West Sumatra. Every action is a collaboration from many people who want to help residents rebuild their lives.

Friends of Initiative can also join this effort. Through human-initiative.jp, anyone can contribute and support families who are trying to recover. Every contribution brings hope and helps people start again in a safer environment.
